September 6, 2007 – Boise, ID. – A coalition of professional detail business owners from across the country joined efforts this past week to assist at preserving a piece of American aviation history. Six historic aircraft at one of the world’s premier aviation museums; The Museum of Flight located on Boeing field in Seattle Washington. Included within this project was our nation’s first Presidential Jet Air Force One.
Attention To Details along with the organizations Founder Renny Doyle and the CEO of Aviation Partners, Joe Clark, the creator of the Winglet and major contributor to both commercial and business aviation along with Shell Aviation all contributed to this project, allowing the true cost to the Museum to be drastically reduced.
Since 1996 when Air Force One was granted to the Museum of Flight, some two million visitors have stepped back in history aboard the “flying Whitehouse” that carried Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon along with many national and world leaders. In 1959, President Eisenhower took the very first Presidential jet flight aboard this aircraft and called it “exhilarating”. Attention To Details performed full exterior details including the difficult and sometimes tricky polished aluminum work.
Earlier this year the Museum of Flight approached Doyle about conducting preservation services once again on not just the Air Force One aircraft, but five additional aircraft including the very first 737, 747, a rare B-47 Bomber and one of the last 727 aircraft to be operated within American Airlines. A new Jewel to the museum is the rare Concord Jet that was retired from service in 2003 from British Airways and the only Concord on display within the western United States. With this many historic aircraft to clean and preserve at once, Renny invited some of his best detailing students and other top performing technicians from across the country to take part within this project.
"This was more then just a detailing opportunity, it was a chance to work on a piece of history and a chance to assist several entrepreneurs at realizing their dreams by providing them with an opportunity to work on such a grand and noble project", Doyle stated. "I have been given many opportunities from others and started with nothing like many of these professionals, it's only fair to do the same for these guys, now its up to them to use the event to advance their own businesses and opportunities once they return home", Renny added.
Attention To Details own teams supplied the base of the team and real world aircraft experience with several additional lead, performance and support detailers asked to participate. Those who took part within the event:
